A Michigan Group
Internal problems lead to professional group managment
The Challenge
An established group practice had been struggling with financial, staffing and internal dynamic issues leading to turnover and a difficult work environment. Declining reimbursement, difficulty with retaining and recruiting and an increasing work load all led to unhappiness within the group. The group also struggled with leadership and governance issues which often lead to poor decision making and poor interpersonal relationships.
The Approach
RBS was invited by the group to conduct a professional evaluation and operational analysis of the practice. A thorough analysis was completed by the RBS radiologist led team over a period of two days. Areas reviewed included group leadership and governance, interpersonal relationships, decision making process, billing and collection, radiologist productivity and efficiency, financial model and staffing levels. RBS also surveyed the relationship and outside perception of quality and service by the hospital and medical staff.
The Solution
The RBS evaluation and operational analysis identified many issues causing disharmony within the group. RBS' report presented to the radiologists outlined all areas of concern. The report offered recommendations based on national standards, leading business practices, and nationwide experience with other radiology group practices. RBS also offered structure and guidance to implement all the recommendations.
The Result
The group methodically responded by implemeting the recommended changes. RBS guided the group through the process thereby allowing them to rebuild internal and external relationships, renew their Radiology Service Agreement with the hospital, maximize billing and collection, restructure compensation and overall became a more cohesive group. The group was impressed with the result and wanted to continue their plan to become a secure and stable group with solid business practices. The group subsequently hired RBS to manage the practice by providing comprehensive management services.
